Digital procurement in construction: the blockchain imperative

Bio: Oleksii (Alex) Konashevych is an Executive Director of the Australian Institute for Digital Transformation. He is a researcher of blockchain since 2016. In 2021 he was invited to speak at the Australian Senate. Conclusions of his research about blockchain estate registry were put down as recommendations to National Cabinet to run a blockchain pilot project with land registry. Alex writes on Cointelegraph and develops his YouTube channel “Blockchain State”.

Ms Loretta Joseph, McDonell-Nadeau

Harmonised regulatory frameworks for regulation digital and virtual assets

Bio: Loretta is the Fintech consultant at the Bank of Mauritius and Vanuatu Financial Services Commission Vanuatu and is a board member of the Regional Centre of excellence (Mauritius) in collaboration with the OECD on Fintech. Loretta is an external resource to GIABA, she regularly advises a number of global organisations on responsible adoption of financial technology across policy makers, governments and industry, specifically blockchain. She has previously advised OECD and OSCE on digital assets and their impact in AML/CFT. Also, the MD of Lo-Jo Consulting. She was the fintech and regulatory consultant to the Government of Bermuda, presently, Serbia and the Premier office of South Australia. Loretta sits on the papal council of Humanity 2.0 the Developed in collaboration with the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development at the Holy See and a consortium of leaders and luminaries. Loretta is a highly dynamic, skilled banking, financial and consulting professional with over 25 years in financial markets and related sectors. She has a worked for major investment banks at Board, MD or senior management level throughout Asia and India including, RBS (India), Macquarie Group (India), Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Elara Capital (India), Spanning a long career, Loretta has tremendous exposure to global financial markets, multiple asset classes and emerging market environments. Loretta has advised many international banks, global hedge and pension funds on managing portfolio and exposure to derivatives and related products. For the last decade, she has been paramount in successful transaction facilitation for Foreign Investors in India and other emerging markets. She has operated in many multi-cultural organisations. Loretta sits on the advisory board of UWS (Business School), Blume Ventures (India). She is also an adjunct fellow at UWS (Australia). She was previously Director of market development at SSX, is a Lifetime fellow of ADDCA (Australian Digital Currency and Commerce Association) chair of the Serbian blockchain Association.
Loretta holds various advisory positions globally. She was the recipient of the Fintech Australia “Female leader of 2016” She was the recipient of the Fintech Australia “leader of 2017 and Sancta Sophia College (Within Sydney University) Alumni Award 2016, 2018 and current 2019 alumni Award recipient for Social impact.

Mr Mathew Sayed, Little Phil

Bio: Mathew has an undergraduate degree in information technology with a keen interest in cryptography and network security. Due to his interests, Mathew was an early-stage advocate for blockchain technology in 2016. Mathew's career started as a data scientist at Deloitte. After developing strong networks and a better understanding of business, he decided to enter the start-up world. He worked with a few start-ups, wearing multiple role hats, ranging from Data Science, DevSecOps, Database Administration and Software Engineer. He now is a co-founder of a holding company that runs four start-ups, all with solid integrations with blockchain technology.

Ms Katrina Donaghy, Civic Ledger

Water Accounting in a Multi-Token Economy

Bio: Katrina Donaghy is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Civic Ledger. Katrina began her career in the public sector and held senior project coordination and management roles with the Brisbane City Council, Queensland Urban Utilities, and the Queensland Government.
Katrina recognised the potential for governments and industry to apply blockchain technology to create new markets and economies of the future and co-founded Civic Ledger in late September 2016. She is the founding organiser of the Brisbane Women in Blockchain Meetup, former Industry Mentor at RMIT Online, Australia’s top provider of university on-line educational courses in blockchain technology, a past Director on the Blockchain Australia Board.
In 2018 and 2019, Katrina was recognised as a Female Fintech Leader Finalist and Female Blockchain Leader Finalist by her Industry peers. In 2019, Katrina was appointed as an Australian Blockchain Fellow in recognition for her contribution to the responsible adoption of blockchain technology both in Australia and globally. In 2020, Katrina was included in the 101 Women in Blockchain. Katrina is a Griffith University Graduate.

Mr Peter Robinson, ConsenSys

Crosschain Money Laundering/ Cross-chain value transfer and obfuscation for criminal activity

Bio: Peter Robinson is a researcher and applied cryptographer working in ConsenSys’s Protocol Engineering Group on Ethereum Private Sidechains. He has twenty granted patents in fields ranging from distributed computing, cryptography, blockchain, and virtualisation to password design. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Queensland University of Technology, a Masters of Telecommunications Engineering from University of Wollongong, is a graduate of the International Space University, and is currently completing a PhD at University of Queensland part-time with the thesis topic, Ethereum Private Sidechains.

Mr Lucas Cullen, DLTx

Crypto: A tool for criminal activities

Bio: Lucas has a background in Mathematics from QUT and has been a professional software developer for over 15 years, experienced in a wide range of programming languages and industries including banking. In March 2013 he started the Brisbane Bitcoin and Blockchain meetups with nearly 2000 members. He has worked on a number of large blockchain projects including "Project Ubin" with the Singapore Monetary Authority and "Project i2i" with the Union Bank. In 2019 he started a Blockchain Venture studio company "DLTx" and is working with a number of DeFi and crypto exchanges.

Dr Jabed Morshed Chowdhury, La Trobe University

Bio: Mohammad Jabed Morshed Chowdhury is currently working as Lecturer in Cyber Security Program at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. He has earned his PhD from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. Bio: Leanne Kemp is the Founder & CEO of Everledger. With extensive experience in emerging technology, business, jewellery, and insurance, Leanne is pushing boundaries with Everledger, addressing real-world challenges through driving transparency and trust along global supply chains using emerging technology. Bio: RK Shyamasundar is a Life Fellow of IEEE a Fellow of ACM, Distinguished ACM Speaker, a Distingusihed Alumnus of Indian Institute of Science, served as IEEE Distinguished Speaker, and was the founding Dean of School of Technology and Computer Science at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. He has been JC Bose National Fellow at TIFR and IIT Bombay and he is a INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering) Distinguished Professor at the Department of Computer Science, IIT Bombay.
He is an Adjunct Professor, NITIE, Mumbai. He is a fellow of all the national academies of science and engineering in India and also a fellow of world academy of sciences, Trieste, Italy. Prof. Shiping Chen, CSIRO Data61

Bio: Prof. Shiping Chen is a senior principal research scientist at CSIRO Data61, where he is leading a research team dedicated to Blockchain R&D. He also holds a conjoint full professor with UNSW via PhD supervision. He has been working on distributed systems for over 20 years with a focus on performance & security. He has published over 280 papers in these research areas and won 5 the best paper awards on top venues on software engineering and distributed systems (ICSE-2018 and CCGrid-2015). Bio: Salil Kanhere is a Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW Sydney. His research interests include distributed systems, cyber physical systems and cybersecurity. Dr Rafael Dowsley, Monash University

Bio: Rafael Dowsley is a Lecturer at Monash University. His research focuses on cryptography and its abundant intersections with machine learning, privacy and information theory. Bio: Dr. Naipeng Dong is an expert in automatic formal verification of security and privacy in cryptographic protocols, Android applications and blockchain systems. She obtained her Ph.D. in Doctor of Philosophy, University of Luxembourg. She has developed efficient automatic formal verification techniques with a focus on attacker reasoning and analysis on cryptogrpahic protocols, developed algorithms to verify fault-tolerance of systems with dishonest participants, and analysed systems in e-auction, e-health, Single-Sign-on authentication, and blockchain consensus. Her research interest are Formal Verification, Security, Privacy, Cryptographic Protocols, Blockchain and Smart Contract.

Dr Kamanashis Biswas, Australian Catholic University

A Reliable Vaccine Tracking & Monitoring System for Health Clinics Using Blockchain

Bio: Dr Kamanashis Biswas is a Lecturer in Information Technology at Peter Faber Business School. He is also an adjunct lecturer at School of ICT, Griffith University. Before starting his role at ACU, he worked as an Associate Lecturer at Griffith University for one and half years. He also worked as a faculty at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh for about four and half years. His research interests include blockchain technology, design and development of lightweight security protocols, energy efficient and secure routing, intrusion detection systems, security issues in MANETs and WSNs. He has published more than 50 peer reviewed papers in various journals and conferences including IEEE, Springer and Elsevier.

Dr Adrian McCullagh, ODMOB Lawyers

Bio: Adrian has degrees in Computer Science and Law (Hons) as well as a Ph.D. in IT Security. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Information Security Research Centre at QUT in 2000. His Ph.D. research involved a techno/legal analysis of Digital Signature technology and Hash Algorithms which are part of the underlying technology utilised in blockchains.
He has been practicing IT security law for more than 30 years. He is a member of the Queensland Law Society and a member of the American Bar Association. In 1999 he was the QUT Faculty of Information Technology Alumnus of the year.
Adrian is a member of the Australian Law Council Digital Commerce committee, a member of the Queensland Law Society Digital Privacy Committee and is a special Advisor to the Director General of the Blockchain Climate Institute based in the UK that is an NGO partially funded by the UN, the EU and the UK Government.
Finally, he is a member of ISO technical committee (TC307) investigating blockchain issues. Within TC307 he is a member of 3 groups (WG3: Working Group smart contracts investigation), (AG3: Central Bank Digital Currency investigation) and (AHG3: Ad Hoc Group NFT and physical items investigation).

Bio: Warwick Powell is Adjunct Professor in the School of Design at Queensland University of Technology. He is also the founding chair of Smart Trade Networks, a global blockchain research and development group with projects in Australia, Africa, South and North America, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Japan. He leads an industry-academic research team focused on the design & application of distributed ledger systems to supply chains focusing on cross border trade, supply chain finance and data integrity. Prof Marimuthu Palaniswami, University of Melbourne

Bio: Marimuthu Palaniswami is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) and an internationally recognised expert in Internet of Things (IoT), Sensor Networks, Automated Learning, and Computational Intelligence in large-scale complex systems. He obtained his Ph.D from the University of Newcastle, Australia and is currently the Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Bio: Dr Hai Luong is a Research Fellow in Cyber Criminology at School of Social Science, the University of Queensland (UQ) and collaborating with UQ Cyber Centre. Bio: Prof. V. Muthukkumarasamy obtained Ph.D. from Cambridge University, England and B.Sc. Eng. from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He is an Associate Professor at the School of ICT, Griffith University. He has pioneered the Network Security teaching and research at Griffith and is leading the Networking & Security and Blockchain Research Group at the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems. His research expertise is in Cyber Security, Blockchain Technology (DLT), and Wireless Sensor Networking. Prof John Flood, Griffith University

Bio: Prof John Flood is a Professor of Law and Society, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia since 2015. He was the Inaugural Director of the Law Futures Centre, Griffith University, Queensland, 2015-16. His research covers technology and society (including AI and blockchain), the sociology of the professions, especially law, the organisation of big law firms, and the globalisation of law. John Flood published over 150 articles, chapters, and reports, along with three books. He holds ed a number of awards for research fellowships including the Exxon Fellowship in Ethics at Indiana University-Bloomington, the Jean Monnet Fellowship at the European University Institute, Florence, and a Leverhulme Research Fellowship in the UK. Currently he is a Research Associate at the University College London Centre for Blockchain Studies.

Bio: Srinivas Boyapati is the Managing Director at Natsoft Consulting, Australia –subsidiary of Natsoft Corporation, USA, a global digital transformation services company providing Blockchain, IIOT & Big Data and Robotic Process Automation solutions. Srinivas Boyapati is a seasoned executive with 30+ years of experience in Industrial Control Systems, Information and Operations Technology, delivering large complex integration programs and solution outcomes using various methodologies and technologies across a multitude of industries and geographical locations. Paul Gampe, PCCW Global

Bio: Paul Gampe became Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Console Connect by PCCW Global in late 2017 and can draw on 20 years’ experience in IT operations, software development and international business. He had previously held CTO posts at Console Connect Inc and NEXTDC and served as Vice President of Worldwide Engineering Services and Operations at Red Hat. Operating as a senior software executive with a substantial technical foundation, Paul has led multidisciplinary teams globally for over 20 years. Paul holds a wealth of experience in all aspects of the software industry especially in terms of acquisitions, investments, development, quality engineering, program management and operations and has led multi-disciplinary teams on a global basis. He is expert in open-source technology, has worked extensively in the fields of cloud computing, networks and data centres, and has earned a track record for delivering outstanding financial results. Earlier in his career, Paul was General Manager of TWICS, Japan’s first public Internet service provider. In the late 1990s, he led technical operations for the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), which is one of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) responsible for ensuring fair distribution and management of IP addresses and related resources. With experience in cloud, networks, data centers, and open source globally, Paul has developed specific expertise in the open-source technology landscape. As a highly effective manager, he has a proven track record of managing global teams and products whilst delivering outstanding financial results.
